- ➤ Heart of Florida United Way distributed 6,000 Thanksgiving meal kits (cars stretched around the block at Valencia College) to families in need across Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties while over 1,000 volunteers packed the meals at the Central Florida Fairgrounds this week. Each kit contains shelf-stable items and a gift card for protein, and the food will serve 24,000 people this coming Thursday for Thanksgiving. WESH

16th Annual Turkey Day 5K
7:40 a.m. — Fort Mellon Park — Registration fee applies — Celebrate Thanksgiving with Sanford’s biggest fun run featuring a costume contest and complimentary treats.
