- ➤ Sanford stargazers can see the Orionid meteor shower peak tonight as Earth passes through Halley’s comet remnants—EarthSky said at least 20 meteors per hour may flash by at speeds up to 148,000 mph. Best viewing begins at 1 a.m. and lasts until dawn in open areas. WFTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Florida homeowners who experienced damage from storms in 2023 and 2024 can apply for repairs and rebuilding help through the HUD-funded Rebuild Florida Storms Program. The program prioritizes low-to-moderate income families, seniors, children and disabled residents in 47 counties, and Seminole County has shared application instructions on social media — applicants must confirm required documents and create an account. - ➤ The Orlando Air Show at Orlando Sanford International Airport has been canceled because the federal government shutdown led the U.S. military to pull out and made high public safety costs prevent a civilian lineup (ticket holders will soon receive an email with instructions to defer to the 2026 show).
