- ➤ The Department of Education ordered Seminole County schools to end the Latinos in Action program that helped Latino students graduate—The district said it will replace the course with a new Leaders in Action program next semester. WESH
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tropical Storm Chantal is the only storm that hit the U.S. this season while storms Erin, Humberto, Imelda and soon Jerry are being steered away from Florida by a trough that brings cooler, drier air from the north—another cold front arriving later this week is expected to push Jerry into the Atlantic. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Central Florida Expressway Authority will pick its preferred route today for a $200 million toll road connector linking SR-417 to Sanford airport—Alternative 2A leads the list for easing congestion on nearby roads, though construction will start in several years. The decision will be discussed at the board meeting starting at 9 a.m. at the agency’s headquarters. WKMG
