CRIME NEWS

  • Sanford police said they are seeking Lenetria Dixon and her 5-year-old daughter Denver Dixon—last seen on Aug. 10 near North Lane and Westgrove Way in Orlando—due to concerns for Lenetria’s mental health and ask anyone with information to contact them immediately.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • Miguel Aguasvivas was sentenced to seven years in federal prison on August 12th after pleading guilty to money laundering charges — his wife, Katherine, was kidnapped in Winter Springs by alleged cartel associates and later killed, though he was not charged in connection with her death.  FOX 35 Orlando

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Seminole County Fire Department is upgrading its emergency vehicle fleet—adding a mobile simulation lab to let first responders train and improve their response during emergencies in the county.  WFTV
  • Seminole County Commission approved tax increases Tuesday to close a $34 million deficit—new gas and public service taxes will take effect on Jan. 1, with the gas tax rising by 5 cents per gallon and the utility rate in unincorporated areas jumping from 4% to 10%, adding about $9 to monthly bills.  FOX 35 Orlando
  • An audit by Forvis Mazars Group found that former Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Chris Anderson used more than $160,000 in public funds for his personal legal fees in a defamation suit—fees that Supervisor Amy Pennock said should have come from his own pocket. The audit recommended that the county seek to recover the funds while Anderson maintained he met Florida's legal standard for indemnification.  FOX 35 Orlando
