- ➤ Parents in Sanford are finding deals on school supplies as stores such as Amazon, Target, Walmart and Staples offer specials starting at 25 cents - promotions meant to ease the impact of rising costs. A recent survey by the National Retail Federation showed 67% of families began shopping in early July - the highest rate since 2018. WFTV
- ➤ Flagler Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore said new rules such as a no cell phone policy and ParentSquare for communications will help meet each student’s needs as classes resume Monday, August 11. She added that these changes will offer more flexible learning options and customized schedules for students. WESH

- ➤ The Sanford City Commission held a second public hearing Tuesday on a proposed fire assessment fee that might add about $95 per household to support $2.4 million in annual fire department expenses—residents warned the fee could feel like an extra tax while a final vote is set for early September. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Florida health officials warned Sanford residents about the dangers of consuming raw milk after 21 people — including six children under 10 — became infected with campylobacter and E. coli. Officials noted that pasteurization prevents harmful bacteria and raw milk is sold only for pet or animal food. WESH
