- ➤ The Chuluota Resource Center food pantry was opened four months ago near the Chuluota Grocery Store by local resident Barbie Worswick to provide community-donated food and summer meals for children who miss out on school lunches. Food manager April Longenbach and volunteer coordinator Angela Eakman said the pantry offers an after-hours cabinet for grabbing food — even a simple bag of chips brightens a child's day and eases a parent's worries. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A large law enforcement presence was seen near Jordan Stuart Circle and Border Lake Road in Seminole County on Sunday, July 27—deputies blocked access to the Villas of Stockbridge townhome complex east of Wekiwa Springs while a sheriff's helicopter circled and redirected residents to a nearby parking lot. WESH
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sanford is reviewing a proposal for a fire fee to support fire services. Mayor Art Woodruff explained that the fee is based on a five-year average cost of $2.4 million and would add about $95 per year to homeowners when enacted in 2026 with the city commission meeting scheduled for today at 7 p.m. WKMG
