- ➤ Registration for swim lessons opens today for city residents at the Larry A. Dale Aquatic Center — non-residents can register starting July 16. WESH
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Allegiant Flight 600 aborted takeoff Monday at Orlando Sanford International Airport after its pilot received a warning about the plane’s environmental control system—emergency crews responded and passengers deplaned before the flight later departed safely. FOX 35 Orlando
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Sanford Police continue to search for Eric Blood, a man with a mental health diagnosis who was last seen on July 5 near Persimmon Avenue walking toward First Street and considered endangered; anyone with information is asked to call (407) 688-5070. FOX 35 Orlando
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Central Florida’s Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 4, made up of 35 firefighters from Orlando, Orange County and Seminole County, is heading to Kerr County, Texas to aid rescue efforts as over 160 people remain missing after catastrophic flooding. The team carries rescue boats, search tools and K9 units (trained to detect human scent even under deep water) to support local responders. FOX 35 Orlando
- ➤ Sanford will see two new lift stations installed behind Hollerbach’s German restaurant and Brewlando to move both businesses off the vacuum sewer system and ease repeated utility issues. The $1 million project will be completed by July 17th—helping to prevent backups seen after Hurricane Ian. WKMG
