- ➤ The latest drought monitor released Thursday shows that severe drought now affects Orange, Seminole and Brevard counties along with Volusia, Lake and Sumter while parts of Marion and Volusia face extreme conditions. Rain is not expected through the rest of the week and the next chance is Monday—leaving Central Florida dry. WESH
- ➤ Florida’s fire season peaks in April and local homeowners are advised to build or restock emergency kits, clear 30 feet around their homes, and review evacuation plans—drought conditions are worsening with no rain expected until Monday. WESH

- ➤ Seminole High School water polo teams got a special send-off just before 9 a.m. on Thursday as they left for the state competition in Miami (the girls are ranked No. 1 in state and nationally with a 27-1 record) and (the boys have a 20-8 record and are ranked fourth in Florida) for their second straight state final four appearance.
