About this event

The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens is honored to present America the Beautiful, a photography exhibition by internationally acclaimed photographer Clyde Butcher. In honor of the nation’s 2026 Semiquincentennial celebration, this stunning collection of black-and-white photographs capture the grandeur, diversity, and enduring beauty of the American landscape.

Spanning the nation from the towering redwood forests of California to the gulf stream waters and vast wetlands of Florida, America the Beautiful allows visitors to experience some of the nation’s most awe-inspiring wilderness areas. Through his monumental photographs, Butcher reveals the majestic and often spiritual character of these remote places, encouraging us to reflect on the natural treasures that define the American experience.

As one of the most respected photographers of our time, Clyde Butcher has dedicated his life to capturing the natural beauty of the world around us. His distinctive artistry is defined by his silver gelatin hand-processing of each photograph, taken with large-format view cameras. The resulting photographs possess remarkable depth, clarity, and timelessness.

Presented in partnership with Gold Sponsor - Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, the exhibition will be accompanied by a series of public programs, including lectures and book signing with Clyde Butcher on October 8, 2026, a free-admission Family Photography Day on November 1, 2026, and a weekend pop-up photography exhibit in The Capen House at the Polasek featuring local photographers from reFrame.

This exhibition is also supported by Orange County Art & Cultural Affairs, United Arts of Central Florida, the City of Winter Park, and Florida Department of State.
