About this event
For 25 years, Doug Mathews laid down the groove as bassist for the incomparable Sam Rivers. As a member of the RivBea Orchestra-Sam's legendary big band-Doug honed his craft alongside some of the greatest voices in jazz. Though Sam passed before reaching his centennial, the milestone of his 100th birthday inspired Doug to bring together a bold new ensemble: the Rejuvenation Orchestra. Featuring original RivBea members and a new generation of eager young talent, this group carries Sam's spirit forward in thrilling, unexpected directions.
